Search engine optimization in my opinion is the most time consuming work for a web site owner, but everybody should do it once in a while.
There are many forms of advertising: submission to web directories, optimizing a web site’s code, proper META tags and many other techniques. All search engines strive to show the most relevant results for a given search term/keyword. A major factor is the number and quality of back links.
So, how do we archive quality back links? A good way (and quite easy) is to write and submit articles to quality article directories. These back links are called “contextual back links” and all SEO gurus say that these links are the best way to promote a product or service.
So, writing content is most effective way to promote your web site and this works on a simple basis that publishers require loads of content that they get for free. This obviously brings your website into the notice of robots, and does Internet promotion. SEO is all about getting traffic and for this crawlers need to be directed for fresh and unique content. Everybody should learn from errors and these days we all should be happy that we can promote our web sites in a manner that Google and yahoo likes.
There are many elements and options but we have to choose carefully because Google used to penalize some websites. It’s simple: follow all technical and ethical guidelines and your business will rise up as flowers in April. 
On the Internet there are thousands of search engine optimization related books, endless articles, weblogs and many more resources. It isn’t easy but almost everybody can do it.
